We will pick up you from your hotel early in the morning at 5:00 am (depending on the location of your hotel). The drive to Dendera is approximately 250 km.
The Temple of Dendera, dedicated to the goddess Hathor, impresses with its over 2,000-year-old splendor. Here you will discover the Sacred Lake, the sanatorium, the Mamisi and the only surviving depiction of the pharaoh Cleopatra. Your guide will also show you the beautiful astronomical displays on the ceiling and the mysterious reliefs in the temple's crypt.
After visiting the Temple of Dendera, we will drive for about an hour (100 km) to get to Abydos. A delicious lunch awaits us in Abydos before we begin our cultural program in this historic city.
Abydos was an important ancient religious city and worshiped the god Osiris. In the Abydos Temple you will learn more about the eternal battle between good and evil, the Horus and Seth myths.
Admire the well-preserved reliefs and colors in the Abydos Temple, the images and hieroglyphs precisely carved into the stone. Particularly noteworthy are the king list of Abydos and the scene of Pharaoh Ramses II with a crown prince hunting wild animals.
After a fascinating day we return to Hurghada.
